Winning the War on Clutter

Here are some tips to help you in curing clutter:
  • Get a box or basket that you will use daily to go through the house and pick up the things that do not belong in each room and then deposit them where they do belong.
  • There are always spots that seem to collect items such as mail, keys, etc. Why not put a pretty basket in that spot for the mail? How about a cute little glass dish for the keys?
  • Paper clutter seems to be the worst. Throw away or put in a recycling bin outdated coupons, flyers, newspapers, catalogs, etc. Why not donate your old magazines to an organization? Shred old receipts you don't need to keep. Buy file folders and a label maker and organize your important papers. Keep them in a filing cabinet or a pretty basket or box.
  • Get rid of clothes that you haven't worn in a year. Quit holding onto those clothes you can no longer fit into. Donate them to a charity. We have one in our area called Caring and Sharing and people donate clothing and household items to them and then they sell each item in the store for $1.00. It is very handy to those who cannot afford much.
  • Set a timer for 15 minutes and clean out a drawer or two each day. You'll be amazed at what you can accomplish in such a short amount of time.
