Frugal Decorating Tips: The Entryway

Decorating a home can be quite a challenge to those who are limited in their funds or those who rent. However, this shouldn't stop you from being creative and frugal all at the same time. I'd like to share some tips that you might use in your own home. Some, I have used and some are still just there in the back of my mind. Anyone can use these ideas, even those that rent, but always ask the owner before doing anything! Today we're talking about the entryway.

Frugal Decorating Tips: The Entryway

Most rental places usually take care of the landscaping, but some do not. Make the outside of your home appealing and neat. This let's people know that the inside is most likely to be clean and neat. Even if you live in an apartment, you still have a door facing the outside. You can find or make beautiful wreaths to hang on the door. Buy a couple of pretty containers at the dollar store and plant real flowers or even fake ones in the containers. You can use anything! Look at vases, buckets, baskets, large coffee mugs, etc. Place your arrangement(s) near the door or on a small table. You can find tables at flea markets or yard sales and paint them or stain them to suit you.

If you don't have a front porch but rather a stoop with little room, focus on the door. Create a welcoming spot will allow visitors to feel welcomed even before they enter your home.

  1. Thanks Sharon! You gave some really helpful hints!
The fabric on a wall sounded especially interesting but I'm not sure my husband would go for it!
I wonder if it would be hard to keep clean....hmmm...maybe it should wait until my boys grow up!

  2. Deb,
Probably a good idea to wait until the boys are grown. :) I did use the idea to cover a shoebox with material and it worked great. I haven't been brave enough to try it on the walls, but it is a good idea if you have some bad spots you want to cover.
